If the charterers wanted to claim loss of profits resulting from the cancelled sale contract and damages which the charterers had to pay their purchasers, the charterers had to prove special knowledge on the part of the owners, otherwise, the charterers were just only entitled to damages based on the difference between the market value of the relevant cargo at its destination at the time it ought to have arrived less the value of the cargo to the charterers at the agreed time and place of shipment with appropriate deductions for expenses saved.
